2006 Florida Triathlon Mini Camp Day #4

Day Four is done. I am done. Day four totals are 45 mins running, 15 mins core, 60 mins swimming and 240 mins riding...another 6 hours and a grand total of 20 hours in 3.5 days. Time broke down as 2:45 running / 4:00 swimming / 12.5 biking / :45 core.

Today wasn't as mentally difficult as I thought it was going to be...that speaks a lot to the importance of routine. I just got up and got going. No extra thought or wondering what the workout was going to be. I think that putting the run portion in as transport to/from the pool was a helpful timesaver...and made sure it got done!

As soon as I hit the water, I knew I was tired...my arms just didn't want to go around. For those of you who swim, well, you know this can present a bit of a problem. :) I ended up pulling more than I had wanted to, but I didn't have much of an option. Overreaching on this trip has reminding me of the importance of the warm up...when you are that tired, you really have no choice but to warm up for a while. And as you keep going, warm up pace isn't that far off your workout pace!

Today I sought out some flatter terrain and came across a great 72-mile loop. I did manage to snap some photos like the one above. This is a shot of the SugarLoaf hill that folks climb during the Great Floridian Irondistance triathlon. It is a bear of a hill...I didn't want to get any closer having already climbed it in the previous two days! :) You can view the rest of the photos here.

I am not sure of what to do tomorrow (Sat) morning. I have to pack up the bike and get all my stuff together...so it might just be some stretching and a long run...I'll post the details when I am done...

more soon,
Patrick
