Starting All Over Again...
Attention: Thanksgiving is History. This means:No more fussin' about folks.
No more "...but i'm tired"s...
No more "...but it's cold outside"s...
It's time to get back on track!
That's right...I am that evil little penguin...and you are that slumbering polar bear. Just because it's winter doesn't mean that you get to hibernate. Now is the time when starting to put quality time in makes a huge difference in your 2006. No, you don't need to be logging serious hours quite yet, but you do need to start formulating a plan.
Instead of stressing over some massive annual plan (that's what a coach is for), think baby steps right now. Here are three steps (just three) to help you start to get your polar-bear-butt into gear:
1. Find a Race, Any Race: It can be a 5k or a 10k. Or a ski race. Something to get the adrenaline flowing. The only stipulation is that it has to be in the next month. We can't think too long term right now, or winter will win (and we don't want that!).
2. Sketch Out A Basic Week: I posted an article on this in the latest PTS Newsletter. Again, this isn't rocket science. We just want to get you on some kind of schedule...for some reason, once something is on a schedule, it's that much easier to accomplish.
3. Make it a Party: Why fly solo when you don't have to? There are lots of other folks out there in your situation right now (need to train, struggling to motivate). The winter isn't about speed, it's about just getting out there. Shoot out a public email and try to find some training buddies...this is the time of year when we can all ride/run/swim together, so make the most of it!
There you go...three simple steps. That wasn't so bad now, was it??? No rolling over now...time to get up...there is no hiding from the penguins!!!
