Client: Liz Hamp
Coach: Cheryl Bayuk
- Town, State: Wakefield, MA
- Training Focus: Rehabbing a broken foot, spending more quality time on my bike, being more diligent about my brick workouts.
- Your "A Race" for 2005: The Timberman Half IM in August 2005 (which will also be my “A Race” for 2006).
- #1 goal: From the start, my goal has always been to become proficient enough at all three sports to be able to finish a half IM healthy and happy. While I managed to finish the Timberman half in 2005 healthy, it was still a pretty messy scene. My new goal for this year is to do that race again, finish a bit faster and happier.
- Athletic Accomplishment You Are Most Proud Of: Finishing that half IM last August. One year ago, I had never raced anyone for anything, didn’t really know how to swim and didn’t own a bike. Last spring, my mom passed away which derailed my training (and my life) for some time. Race day, I felt horrible after the swim and spent the majority of the bike portion thinking about how I couldn’t go out for the run. I (somehow) made it out to the run (which was really more of an aggressive shuffle). Despite some tears and asking a police officer to arrest me, I finished that race and, honestly, have never been so proud of myself.
- Favorite Snack/Food: chips and salsa
- I'd rather be: sitting at the beach with a trashy novel and an ice cold beer.
