In this section, our fifth profiled client
of the month, Phillip Cooper, answers our Seven Super Questions!
Congrats Phillip and keep up the good work! Phillip is coached by Eric Kenney.
- Town, State: Cambridge, MA
- Training Focus: Olympic-distance triathlon....with the occasional
road race (running) and time-trial (biking) thrown in for variety.
- Your "A Race" for 2005: I have split this year into
2 phases focusing on
triathlon for June and July and then re-orienting my training
for a
half-marathon in October. My triathlon A race was the Old Colony
Olympic-distance race in July in south-east Mass and the my
next peak will be for the Boston Half-marathon.
- #1 goal: I'm trying to get faster as a triathlete while simultaneously
taking on more responsibility at work and spending more time
on
non-triathlon related activities such as my wife! Because of
this, my focus
has been on training more efficiently and under a better-managed
program. This has been pretty challenging as my job demands
travel more or less every week, so it's always
tough fitting in the workouts I need to do.
- Athletic Accomplishment You Are Most Proud Of: Recovering from
a late season ski injury (broken ankle) and being competitive
in my first Olympic-distance triathlon in around 5 months. Following
a period of hobbling around on crutches, this entailed physical
therapy and some inspiration from athletically-inclined friends
which gave me the desire to morph myself from a skier/golfer/keep-fitter
into a keen triathlete.
- Favorite Snack/Food: Snack: anything containing fruit and/or
nuts. Food: I eat pretty much anything but would probably rate
Japanese, Thai, Indian and seafood as my favorites.
- I'd rather be: skiing waste-deep powder in
a 40deg couloir in Alaska or the Alps.
