Sport Specific Strength Training & Conditioning
Every sport has characteristics that make it unique, whether it is various athletic positions or events, each sport has a very specific movement patterns. PTS strength training and conditioning coaches can evaluate those movement patterns and develop precise training protocols for their athlete to excel in their sport.
The PTS concept of sport specific strength training and conditioning is based on the premise that a person can only be as strong as their weakest link. This is where the concept of structural balance comes into play. Through the use of our in-depth evaluative techniques we are able to locate muscular imbalances and range of motion restrictions that limit sports performance. Once those limitations have been determined, we design a comprehensive training program that incorporates resistance exercises with an emphasis on mobility enhancement. Once structural balance is achieved our coaches will add “predictor exercises” into the training regimen. These “predictor exercises” are movements that when improved upon have a direct correlation to better athletic performance in any sport.
We have the ability to train competitors in any sport, but specialize in football, hockey, baseball, lacrosse, speed skating, track & field, basketball and wrestling.
Speed and Agility Development
For many, the most important factor in athletic training is SPEED. Speed is characterized by exercise physiologists as the rate of force development. The faster an athlete can produce force, the faster he or she will move. PTS athletic training programs emphasize improvement of the strength-speed continuum and will give you the tools you need to optimize your ability to move as fast as possible.
Combine/Pro-Day Preparation
For a college football player that has aspirations of playing in the NFL, the combine has been described as the biggest job interview of your life. The PTS team is well versed in the development of speed, power and explosiveness. We understand that no athlete is exactly the same, which is why our combine prep program focuses on the individual needs of the athlete. The combine prep focus points are:
- 40 Yard Dash
- Bench Press
- Vertical Jump
- Pro Agility Shuttle
- 3-Cone Drill
- 60 Yard Shuttle
- Broad Jump
- Position-Specific Drills
