NSCA on Long-Term Athletic Development

View this post on Instagram

Now that we have some time, we are going back through articles, books, podcasts, etc. Found this position paper which re-iterated the importance of individualized training programs for youth athletes. It is the official position stand of the National Strength and Conditioning Association on Long-Term Athletic Development. Sometimes people think kids can just play their sport in order to improve or they must train with many different coaches with different approaches. That is not the case and can often lead to over-use injuries. The complete training program, including the strength and conditioning program, needs to be monitored, streamlined, and tailored to their goals, skill level, maturity, stress, sleep, mood, fatigue, and soreness level. What are you working towards? Make a plan and train for it. #longtermathleticdevelopment #individualizedtraining #youthtraining #youthathletes #sports #resilience #motivation #strengthtraining #plyos #smartplanning #adaptation
